The Kerbs

Joe Allen in PÉTANQUE

A smooth carpark on Kirkstall Road with a slightly sloped, waxed kerb at one end that doubles up as a brick manual pad. A few other kerbs are dotted around the carpark and a ledge/obstacle of some sort is occasionally stashed somewhere.

Nice flatland, slightly tucked away and easy to commute to on foot from most areas of Leeds – the spot has plenty of space for multiple people/groups to skate at once and has something for skateboarders of all abilities.

The southern end of the carpark is currently under re-construction to install flood barriers but you can still skate here.

Bust: Never (see below).

Etiquette: After 5:30pm, Monday to Friday and all day on weekends. The owner of the building is cool with people skating here outside of business hours when the carpark is empty. Be respectful and don’t litter (there’s a bin in the carpark) or leave obstacles laying around when you’re done skating.

Restrooms: There’s a Starbucks right next to the spot. Staff working the drive-in generally seemed entertained watching people skate the carpark so it’s worth trying your luck.

Shops: ASDA, Greggs and Starbucks are in the next carpark over and there’s a plenty of good food spots on Kirkstall Road.
